Bars & Clubs
1897 Bar
Armani Privé
Our Two editors who have attended this club have described it as one of the most chic clubs to be found anywhere in the world, its like being in Monaco or Milan only better.

Giorgio Armani has opened his only club outside of Italy. Designed personally and exclusively for the Burj Khalifa , the tallest building in the world.  The Privé logo is inspired by the design of the Burj Khalifa tower pattern as seen from above, the club of course incorporating the Armani fashion brand into the interior design of the venue.

The club provides a high tech modern image with the region’s largest LED screen at 187m2, with modern furniture in a stunning black and white contrast that oozes class, the golden backlit marble booths reflect the lighting from the LEDs animated hypnotic images and recorded catwalk fashion shows which provides the clubs main backdrop. The level of customer service is astonishingly high as you would expect, only the best staff are employed here which reflects in the professional can do, will do, manner that has been instilled by the owners ‘nothing is too much for the club to provide’.

The club is on two floors with the upper area being a mezzanine floor, with secluded VIP booths and tables and access to an outside veranda, which overlooks the Dubai fountain dancing to music in a fluent choreographed manner.

The booths and tables provide you with privacy and are available at 3 different levels to suit parties of all sizes and pockets, these include bottles of high end mainline spirits such as Vodka, Whisky and Champagne and all juices and mixers. (Price upon application) basic entry with buy to order is also available for guests as with any club.

The resident DJ plays up to date music. Specially invited renowned DJ’s from around the world, keep the music scene fresh with their repertoire of the latest in electronic, hip hop and current hit music mixes.

The most exciting nights are to be had at this club, as this is the most fashionable club to be seen in. It comes with a price but the price is worth paying. Many a celebrity will no doubt be seen here at the exclusive chic Privé.

Bookings are via Walk Ups, Phone Booking or Armani Hotel Guests but at a capacity of 500 get there early to avoid disappointment. - Dress code is described as Evening Chic.

The Chill Out Lounge
There may be no better way to escape the searing summer heat in Dubai than a visit to the Chill Out lounge, a chilling subzero experience.

If you are feeling the extreme heat of summer in Dubai, there is a great way to cool down. “Chill out” in the lounge of the ice bar in the new Times Square Centre shopping mall. The owners of the “Chill Out Bar” say it is popular with both tourists and residents.

Almost everything is made out of ice. 40,000 tons of it! Diners will sit on ice benches or chairs with cushions to soften the shock of the extreme cold, eat at ice tables, off of ice plates, drink from ice glasses served from a bar made entirely of ice. The floors however are made from anti slip ceramic.

The entry fee charged, entitles you to a free drink and the use of a fur lined hooded parka jacket, disposable woollen gloves and insulated shoes to make your stay a pleasant one. It is recommended that you do not stay longer than 40 minutes, as temperature is set to minus six degrees Celsius.

The Chill Out Bar serves cold appetisers and alcohol-free drinks known as “mocktails” in mugs made of ice. It even has an ice gallery showcasing Dubai’s landmarks and leaders. The sculptures have diffused lighting filtered through the blocks of ice which change colour giving a “scattered” spectacular look.

The 2,400 square foot restaurant has three areas. The lobby and the lounge areas are separated by an acclimatisation area known as the Buffer Zone. This is where guests are supplied with the “protective thermal wear” previously mentioned, it is recommended to spend at least 5 minutes in here to get used to the cold.

The 1897 bar is found inside the luxurious five star Kempinski Mall of the Emirates hotel, the bar is named after the year that the Kempinski group was established. The Kempinski group of hotels is the longest established chain of luxury hotels in the world, established over 110 years ago.

This group prides itself on knowing their customers needs, requirements and the local areas to provide everything that would be expected, which is why the 1897 bar is unique in the city of Dubai. It is rated amongst the top 15 coolest hotels in the world. To have a cool bar inside the hotel is unique as well, particularly as a lot of the coolest bars are on the street rather than in hotels.

Kempinski Hotel is in a prime position on the Sheikh Zayed Road which is central to many locations such as Jumeirah beach, Internet and Media city and just a short journey from the International airport, making the bar both local and appealing to a wide variety of clientele from the hotel guests to local business people who want to visit after work or to entertain its clients in style in a less noisy location where conversations can be had peacefully or to have a romantic night out in the luxury surroundings.

The 1897 bar is classed as being for grownups of a more mature age than some of the larger bars around the city as well as offering the most superb and refreshing cocktails, liquors, beer and light refreshments as well as being notable for being a cigar bar as well. This bar imports German beer which is very popular in Dubai particularly in this hotel.

The bar is situated on the second floor of possibly one of the best looking hotels in Dubai. The bar furniture  is adorned in purple velvet and decorated polished wood bar stools, low slung sofas and accompanied with low level lighting, flickering candles and the aroma of premium quality cigars from around the world such as Cuban Havana, Montecristo, Bolivar, and Romeo Y Julietta, available off of the ‘cigar menu’ which you will find wafting across the room. The club employs the services of popular local DJ’S who play relaxed and chilled out music based upon the clientele that are present and which night it is during the week.

The list of unusual tried and tested drinks list is somewhat weird, wonderful and tasty albeit from the descriptions, and yet the ingredients that go into the extensive variety of cocktails and mixes would seem unnatural but have to be tried to be understood. Such as the martini drink mixed with black pepper and lavender, sounds unusual but is surprisingly popular. A very popular alternative, is the delicious ‘Purple Brumble’ a Bombay sapphire gin mixed with Chambord, a black raspberry liqueur that originates from France, this sounds and tastes delicious. The bar is open to both residents and the public from 1600hrs to 0230hrs

Barasti Bar
Just voted Bar Of The Year 2011 by Hotelier Middle East. Barasti Bar is found at Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina, on the Al Sufouh Road in Dubai, which is in the heart of the Dubai marina and overlooks the Arabian Gulf.

Barasti enjoys a beach front location which is enough to tempt people of any culture and nationality to the sun trap of a bar. The Le Meridien enjoys one of the longest stretches of private beach, which gives an extensive stretch of beachfront to allow a large crowd to attend Barasti.

The 75 bar staff are both quick and concise with their service, having been trained by the management team to remember and process numerous orders. Majority of the staff have been long term employees at the Barasti which shows their love and commitment for the place that they work, something that is not that common in the industry.

With a packed out crowd most nights, Barasti fulfils its customers’ needs with quality drinks, music and shisha pipes which attracts people of all ages. The chilled out tunes relax the patrons and add to the feel of the place.

It is a particularly popular place for expats to meet up, with this being very much like a bar from home. Down stairs you will find a clinical white interior,  with music played by the in house DJ, chilled out tunes, recent hits and background music makes a great venue to be at and seen at. The Barasti Bar is on two levels, where you will find two top level bars, one inside which is basically a sports bar with big screens showing the latest sports news and events. The other bar is found outside, which is on wooden decking where you will find an array of seating with shisha pipes.

On the beach level downstairs the live DJ’s spin the latest hits for the younger crowd that congregate there at the weekend, whilst more sedate music is played in the upstairs bar.

On the beach front you will find limited seating, however the odd huge boulder makes a great place to sit out at night and enjoy your drink, and chill to the tunes with the huge crowds. The cool fresh air is ideal to relax with friends whilst admiring the backdrop of skyscrapers, as well as being able to wander on the beach and dance near the water’s edge or simply to take a tranquil stroll.

The bar won top spot in the Top 100 Bars list, which is compiled from guest feedback by World's Best Bars www.worldsbestbars.com. It is obvious why the Barasti bars regulars and visitors all voted the bar as their number one place to drink and dance in Dubai.  The bar regularly attracts a huge number of music lovers on the peak nights, which explains why this is not only a previous winner of the world’s top bar, but about the busiest bar in Dubai.

At The time of the award Shaun Parsons, Executive Assistant Manager said "Barasti has always been number one with its most regular patrons, but to receive international recognition is fantastic." “Barasti Bar is the social hub of Dubai and is a venue that is always full of excitement. The team here works hard to keep the product fresh and innovative, while maintaining great service levels, and I think that has been the main factor in Barasti being voted the best bar in the world," Parsons added.
